![]() I opened MS Word the other day to face this prompt that “The Visual Basic environment could not be initialized”! The same message popped up (twice) when I closed Word!Ī help button was more informative, saying about “insufficient memory” and “low disk space” - but I have 8GB RAM and 6TB in my hard disks, with 300GB free and available on my system SSD drive. If not, then contacting MS is the next thing to do. That is where I'd start is contacting MS for assistance, it's their product! If you can launch any MS Office for Mac app (Word, Excel etc.) check to see if there are updates available for it too. I also suggest you close Word, then reboot Mac in safe mode, after that, open the document again. This helps you check if issue only happens when you use Word desktop app. If the document is saved on your Mac, you may also try to make a copy of it then upload the copy to OneDrive, see if you can open the copy via Word on the web. People have gotten this somewhat randomly with older Word versions, so I suspect the latter. The Mac Word plugin hasn't changed in months, so this would have to be a change in a Word 2016 update or something else on your computer. ![]()
